Breathing on her own!

Jess is off the ventilator :)

Today Jess accomplished the following:

1. Breathing on her own
2. Thinking people were under her bed
3. Thinking Elmo was calling my phone
4. Drinking ice water
5. Sitting up for 2 hours at a time
6. Smiling, talking and brief laughs
7. Amazing me

She is doing wonderful besides the crazy thoughts she has from time to time. These drugs are making her wacky and it's going to be a lot of fun to tell her what she was saying. I will exaggerate and tell some lies but that's all part of the fun.

It looks like tomorrow she will be completely off oxygen and moved to the step down unit. She realizes that she has a chance to get out of the hospital faster than her breathless peeps that have received transplants, so let me ask you..... Do you think this will motivate her to get healthy faster and beat the record??

Answer - A BIG FAT YES!

She is a fighter and very competitive and she will give it her all. With that being said her main focus is to make sure she is healthy enough to be the condo comfortably and only visit the hospital for schedules appointments.

Lets see what tomorrow brings :)

  4. Friend of mine received her lungs earlier this year. Luckily she only waited a week or so! She is doing great now and was out of the hospital in just 2-3 weeks! I think Jess can beat her! Sending many healing vibes over!

  6. I'm proud of you, Jess!!! Thanks for amazing B-Rad (and the rest of us...) I did ask Elmo to try to call you through Brad, but he was having trouble getting through. Opiates are awesome...

You keep on moving forward - you OWN this recovery - show them how it should be done. Someone in Chicago is cheering wildly for you!

    Love, Steve
