My first 5k

Lasix no more. The fluid has seeped out of my body (well most of it) and I am back down to 108 lbs. I am excited for 2 reasons:

  1. Waddling around like a water balloon sucks.
  2. Now I can concentrate on gaining real weight - the healthy kind.
I'm definitely inhaling enough chow to put some on. Although, I'm likely only eating as much as a healthy person does - It's just so foreign to me. I'm pretty sure all I do is eat.

And when I'm not eating, I think about eating.

It's a good thing I plan on throwing my body around for the rest of my life in an attempt at exercise. I try to look like I know what I'm doing. I should also get some cool leg warmers and stuff. Those are "in", right?

Confidence babeee.

Speaking of exercise and this whole healthy life thing I got going on -

I did it! I registered for my first 5k! I'm participating in the Organ Donation Run and Walk in Halifax, NS. If you too want to be a super star and support such an amazing and literally life-saving cause, you can register here. It's on April 28th...if everything goes well, I will be home end of March/early April, which is in plenty of time.

If you're not up for participating, come on out and cheer! Strap yourself into some sort of homemade cheerleader outfit, complete with skirt if you want.

Grab a nice set of fluffified pompoms and crank your voice box to hiiiiigh.

Feel free to chant something like, "Jess is cool". Or, you know, whatever...you think is appropriate.

"Squeegee has hawt red kicks."

"Love the new blowers."

"Recycle your organs."

Remember how I said I would not stop advocating for organ donation and Cystic Fibrosis? Well, I won't. Here's another news piece from my hometown paper: http://www.southshorenow.ca/archives/2013/011613/news/004_Lung_transplant_recipient_out_of_hospital_plans_test_of_endu.html.php

I forgot to mention something super cool that happened when I came home from the hospital. I have a really great cyster (CF friend), Megan, from Alberta. I talked about her once before; when I first came to Toronto she sent me a care package full of cool stuff.

When I got home and checked the mail, this was waiting for me:

And I intend to do just that

  2. Now I'm happy for you and your progress and all - but you promised not to use that pompom picture of me in any public way - my red pompoms are so much better!

  3. Good day sweetheart, just read your mother's status and hear you’re all celebrating Christmas today , you by Skype... cool . Just wanted to pass along some fashion from may days of long distant running and what is cool. Try what was called long johns, they will keep you warm and have an emergency door just in case you need to exhaust . The color in my day was limited to gray or white but I am sure you can get the latest colors for young people in today’s world. I would love to run with you in april but that will have to be mentally as my knees have long passed the days of picking up my body on one leg and putting it dawn again. Lol. All the best, I will look for a cheer leading outfit but can’t promise you anything . May God continue to Bless – see you when you get home and Merry Christmas . Lee and Gladys
