A surprise for moi?

This morning I sat on the balcony, watching the George Brown College students scurrying to class. I wondered: how do they have the energy and the breath to walk so fast? That's just one of the times it hits me that I'm the abnormal one - not everyone else.

Then my thoughts turn, as I am distracted by the Starbucks cup in the hand of a student. I think about how I would definitely need that cup of java to do what they are doing, plus a crap tons of meds, O2, wheelchair and a note from mommy as to why I'm late.

I find myself drifting to thoughts of a caramel frappuccino. I used to guzzle those monsters; was totally in love. I sucked them back with glee once I learned that I didn't have to feel guilty about the carbs...it's called insulin, my friends.

Now? I haven't had one in forever, as just the thought of all that sugar and empty calories makes me want to hurl. That's not to say that I never eat anything useless, but my relationship with food is somewhat precarious. My appetite is very poor and that frappuccino would be conducting gymnastics lessons in my guts.
I eat two meals/day. It is a rarity for me to eat lunch. I can be moving right along, dumping food down the hatch, when all of a sudden my body can take no more and I wince at getting the food in my mouth down my throat. I've heard it gets better post-transplant. Perhaps I will balloon to 250 lbs.

Remember Brad, you've promised to adore me no matter what.

I had a surprise come in the mail today!!!

Courtesy of Brad. He worked his magic once again and got in touch with one of my favorite authors, explained my situation and OMG!!!! So cool!!!!

Thank you Emily! This was one of the coolest things I've ever received. You are awesome!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned that I'm the Atlantic Vice-Regional Representative for the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Committee, which is part of Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Well, I am...and the committee has never been so cool.

Joanna works for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Tonight she came to visit. Between the two of us, there was not one moment of silence; it's fabulous to meet someone who can keep up to me. However, what I'm most excited about is that we agreed to have a card night. What does this mean? It means winna winna chicken dinna. Squeegee will be crowned victorious yet again.

Pretty sure Cletus is the star of this photo

Aaaaand then we had a little fun:

Earlier today Heather and I headed out the door with intentions of hitting the pet store for the G-man. The boy needs to be lit up. He blends too well at night and there's only room for one ninja in this family.

My lungs started screaming as soon as we hit the humidity, so I reluctantly shuffled my feet back to the condo. Heather was super cool, went by herself and bought my boy this red light special:

All the other dogs were jealous; either that or Griffin was embarrassed

  1. Griffin looks great in red and yes i think the other dogs were jealous. just one correction, it is George Brown College, that may answer all the questions of their ignorance on the street. oh yes i did say that.

    1. Thanks Hilda, he was a bit nervous about wearing it in front of the other dogs but I told him he looked handsome and that everybody would want one.
      And I knew it was a college...whoops.
