Carver Christmas

Last year, our Carver Christmas was severely lacking in Carvers. There was myself, mom, dad and Brad. All of us huddled in a hospital room, playing games while Brad and I ate microwaved turkey dinner.

I truly though I was going to be a superstar last year; thought I'd be out on Christmas Day. Ummmm...seems transplant recovery is a bit more complicated than I let myself believe.

But this year! This year, at the Carver Christmas, I was surrounded by family. My nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters, mom, dad...

It was fabulous. Fabulous to get to be on earth for one more year. Fabulous to get to be entertained by another Carver Christmas. Fabulous to stuff my face full of turkey and throw presents to little children's waiting arms.

Saturday night we went bingo, cosmic bowling. Of course I wore a black sweater. Of course the lint on a black sweater shows up all over the place looking like my hair had a dandruff rave.

Side note: I do not have dandruff.

We missed our four-legged boys though. Lindsay dog sat. She does a great job.  They love her.

Tomorrow.  Tomorrow. Tomorrow.

Is going to be amazing.

We've been waiting for tomorrow for months.

The. Boys. Come. Home.

Without going into too much detail, they have been away. They are completing one school year in Africa. We haven't seen them since August. They don't come home for good until May.

BUT!

Tomorrow, they come home for Christmas. We have them for a few weeks. I can't wait to see their faces and squeeze them.

I can't wait to freight train it down the stairs with them on Christmas morning.

I can't wait to see their faces. Watch them open presents. Give them hot chocolate. Watch Chriatmas movies. Hear all about the past few months. And on and on and on.

Another year. Another Christmas. Another happy me.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Thanks for being a part of my journey and continuing to support me post-transplant.

My chunkers thank you.
